Jayco Jay flight 25rks travel trailer
Friday May 17: Pick up trailer
Saturday May 18: Parking it
"Move-In"
Glamping
May 18
We had a smooth ride (drive). We positioned the trailer where we actually wanted it.. Wahhooo!.... Hubby knew how to park it...
Herbicide was sprayed all around the trailer, You know " No Weed Zone,"
We had to use the chain saw on a bush so the pop out would have room to slide... We really want to keep the property as unmolested as possible, Most people go berzerk and clear everything, Why? Why do they do that? I love how old the land looks... I feel like a visitor that must show respect to it!
We endend up going to town in search of a cart for the generator we were borrowing, moving it man, was tough so the cart idea was mandatory... Thank goodness we were only using it for a short time, because it couldn't handle the load of the AC unit the trailer has any way... :(
The move in is just about complete... Yay!
Show Low seemed like a sleepy little town, but, boy was I fooled when we showed up at the local Wal-Mart, and Homedepot... It's a jumpin joint... I suppose it would be serving all the towns around Show Low...
The property doesnt have any trees, all you see are big, probably century old Juniper bushes...
These bushes are every where, but the land looks so expansive, and views are incredible... You know which direction the wind blows and gusts, from the lean of the bushes, lol... It's kind of annoying, but that's okay... all the pluses out-weigh the annoyances... Laying a ground cover around the trailer is needed, the dust is really bad... :(
Boots are really needed for up here too. The hidden cactus patches and stickers, are "no bueno"...
There is a boot barn to make a visit to in town so that is for sure on the list!
We have a start of a little piece of heaven... Well, for me anyway!
The agenda for today:
dominoes
drinks
music (stevie ray vaughan)
This time of year I give thought to my Grandparents, they both have passed sometime ago, Grandpa was a brilliant teacher, pianist, carpenter, veteran, writer, mathmatician, painter, foster care provider, and father of 6... the list can go on but, my grandmother was a very skilled homelife engineer, cook, baker, fostercare provider, nurturer, and well the list also can go on here too, happy birthday grandpa and miss you grandma...
Sunset happens 7:17 p.m.
The view is incredible and the cool weather is approaching. The wind is dying down.... The feeling of unplugged is just intensely relaxing....
Making plans for coming up next weekend, we have a to do list going
- solar panels
- battery set up
- water tank
- poop tank ( eewww)
- generator - shed
- gravel
Until the next visit:
May 25
Full Moon J
Finally, we
arrived last night like @ 10:00 p.m.
“Late”
We were so tired,
coming up through Salt River Canyon in the dark.
“Me no
like,” :/
The road was so
busy. There were so many cars which made the time go slow to get here. A
particular car made me kind of worried, it would get right on your tail, would
relent… Pass us then there it was behind us again…
“Not Cool”
Hubby got the
solar up and running… Working well! Yay! Hubby also leveled this beastie
too…
So we have the
generator. We used our good friend’s truck, and well, a really nice truck… but
to us, it makes no sense, to be lifted so high off the ground is…well, an
insane truck… We had no idea about how to get the darn thing off the truck…
This generator is no light weight, couple hundred pounds, which I am, such a
light weight when it comes to lifting anything… and we ponder…
I brought Pot
roast and potato salad, Green Chile burritos, for either lunch or dinner…
Yummm! What’s first to eatJ?
Our friend is
supposed to make it up this weekend, using him to help with unloading the
generator will be most needed… J
The acreage and
trailer needs a name! With much thought (will not really)…
Tangent
Ranch…
Do you like?
Saturday Evening:
Well no show on our
friend… (Big surprise) I hope that moving the generator will be a success…
still pondering…
Hubby grilled
hamburgers for dinner… Our little grill will do. It’s flamy though. We watched a movie, and played dominoes,
Hubby kicked my butt … LOL… I guess I’m not to challenging at all.
Whatever it is
about being here, my body is so relaxed… like, what? I can’t describe it,
deescalated… limp, sleepy, lazy… A few more days of this, I certainly can get
back to being myself.
Picture this:
The two of us lounging on garden chairs surrounded by century
old Junipers. Me, shouting out, “another drink please!” Hubby, shouting
out, “get another one.”
Dinner was great…
I realize though I have been away from the kitchen for some time, probably a
little too long. I need to step back into it for sure.
Oh well, I am
still okay at it. J
**Movie & Popcorn tonight**
Movie at sundown!
Big heart with arrow through it!
May 26
We fell asleep to
the movie a little early… I guess, enjoying the quiet atmosphere. We slept gooood. We awoke and motored around
and decided it was poo tank emptying time.
Icky: :[
Eating breakfast
was first, appetites wouldn’t be so up to it after poo tank emptying time…
MENU:
·
Boiled eggs
·
Taquitos
·
Biscuits
Well learning the
oven is challenging, I burned the biscuits. Must remember adjust the rack, and
get the oven to the right temp… See I need to give the kitchen skills some attention...
I did forget to
mention that in warming the tortilla last night, the fire detector went off…
Omg, it was so loud, I thought the fire department was going to show… errrr…
But found a solution for that…Yep, sure did… hahaha!
Solution for
unloading the generator…
Yes, we did do it… Hubby is certainly ingenious… We drove the massive truck over to our
friends toy hauler, lowered the ramp of it on to the bed of the truck, lifted the
wheels of the generator on to the ramp, and slowly let the generator roll down
the ramp in to the toy hauler… Locked it up and bingo- bango there we were…
Couldn’t believe how smooth that went… Problem solved…
Even though it’s
a long weekend, we’re going to clean up and mosey on home to have two weekends
in oneJ
The spending does
need to slow down a bit! The next task at hand anyway is the drive way and
gravel… I would also like to think about the pergola… The thought of having a
deck amongst the junipers under the pergola will be such a plus!
We found out that
we threw our trash in the neighbors dumpster without asking too… OOOps!
How rude of us!
So clean up (as
the tune sets in my head, clean-up, clean-up everybody everywhere, clean-up,
clean-up everybody do their share)… Okay mommy time has shown once again…
Hard work commences…
The list shows like this:
·
Wipe down
·
Gather laundry
·
Floors
·
Free breeze
·
Pledge
·
Scrub bathroom
·
Wipe down fridge
·
Leave fridge open
Unhook anything plugged, rollup whatever, close windows and
blinds…
Off we go until next time!!!
June 7
Left 4:30p.m Friday
night. Oh it was a so unpleasant. This
route sucks for me, the curves, hills and crazy drivers just really rough…
We arrived, finally
around 7:30 p.m. Oh thank goodness…
Unloaded all the things for the trailer… It is so homey now.
Feeling sleepy , we decided to lay down
catch up on some reading, until we can’t hold our eyes open much longer.
June 8
Woke up with the
sensation of some crazy dreams, that I
can’t possible work out.
Hubby was already out and about doing things. I started stirring trying to get my sickly
self going … I managed to get myself out
of bed about 6:30 a.m. Hubby turned the generator on so I can get a cup of
coffee in me… (Secretly doing the coffee
dance)(Quietly)… J
I had a swallow
or two, and figured that hubby was hungry…
Menu
·
Eggs
·
Biscuits
Hubby lit the pilot light in the oven… It
took forever to get to temp… irritating… I got to antsy and ended up throwing
the biscuits in the oven. The temp was just under 400°
After turning the oven up a smidge more,
thinking that I needed to have the oven at 425°, needless to say I burned the
biscuits. Yep! I did… I even pulled them out and turned them so they wouldn’t
burn… Oh so aggravating…
I learned from our friend, putting the
biscuits in a lined with foil cast iron skillet, then put a baking sheet under
it so they will bake evenly works very well…
As the day commences the shed is being
built… The guys are working so hard… well 3 hours later it is complete…
It is such a hot day today, I’m really hot…
but it would be, huh? Record heat. 88° outside, 95°inside… Whew! Water is a commodity that is very welcomed. In
turn hubby helped our friend with a cabinet and then filling the tank with
water (the big tank) and this will take time… L But it’s
all good!
Well, we may take a ride into town
(Wal-mart)… We need water bottles and in a hurry! Our friend wants a real
grill, What?, opposed to a fake one? Ha ha ha! Since spending is a bit of an issue right now,
putting the blinders on is very necessary…
We would say to ourselves “oooo, look at that! Then the mind would
interject and say, “Uh... No!” It was a
nice break though to get out and see people and places… Good change of pace, You Know?
So the Grill was bought! I have to say the
meat sizzles, ha ha ha! We grilled and the food was good and the weather was
calm, but the bugs and eating in the dark not so good…
Exhaustion has found everyone tonight. The stars are intensely amazing tonight. It
would be so cool to be under a screen, watching the Milky Way, falling asleep
to them.
We did meet the guy across the way, The Fire chief, seems like a nice guy…
Everybody is sunburned and tired. We are one step closer to being able to enjoy
without any worries…
Picture:
Stars burning intensely and
glittering with a million dollar view…
June 9
It seems 6:30ish is the bustling time for
me… Hubby was up being busy even before. Breakfast will be ready to start in moments;
I’m really not that in to it.
Getting a checklist ready, made for clean
up… You know, like a Hotel, Every time we come up here, I want it to be a
vacation… Although, Hubby has been
busting his ass, I will sure be glad when he can sit on it!
I love it J J
It was so hot though but it's
okay! I forgot to mention that we
spotted bunnies, and our friend spotted a skunk, on the way back from town, we
seen a large herd of antelope, oh they were gorgeous…
What will be next for us to see?
We headed out!
Until next time.
June 14
Yep! It’s
confirmed…
I really DO NOT
like 60 to Show Low travel route. We arrived around 9:30… The bug fest seems to
continue too… Don’t you dare turn on lights before you get inside that trailer…
I’m warning you! Or you will be fighting the bugs when you do turn them on… So,
quick and precise movement is a must. Yuck!
Also, they really can get through the screen…
I got a little
chilled during the night. Not complaining mind you…
The sun came up completely happy.
Menu:
·
Breakfast Pot Pies
·
Biscuits and Gravy
Don’t forget line
cast iron skillet with foil, baking pan in the oven to help even the heat. My
cooking skills needs some work, oh hummmm!
Driveway marking
and fire pit making should happen today! Good chairs to put around the pit, a
few of them will be put on the list… Can’t wait for the burn days…
Breakfast almost
a success… Biscuits a yes… Pot Pies almost, must remember to put them in a
plastic bag. (got soggy from the ice & water in the chest). Gravy, Oh, Man!
No way!!!!
Fire Pit dig
time, the weather was nice a bit of a breeze, clouds and quiet… Rock gathering
when one has stomach issues, bad, bad, bad…. I really thought that vomit was an
alternative. Resting became second
nature, and then I started to feel better.
I took a lap around the property, got a second wind. I decided to tackle some of the bushes, shape
them up some.
I’m hot and tuckered
now. Hubby is working his behind as usual, when will he just sit on it already?
·
Front of trailer lined with cinders
The dust will be
kept at bay at least.
OMG! OMG! OMG!
A centipede
Ahhhh! Eewww!
We tried to do a
good deed; you know, give it a choice to live. But his choice was made, fought
us all the way… So, life and death had to happen. Spray and a smash was the
fate for it. I think it was hurt so the
suffering needed to end… Not to mention, I in no way, would want to get bit
from one of these… I have heard that it is excruciating.
New Question
What will it
be? Go into town or no. Just hang here for the night? Home depot, is
still a jumpin joint, of course… We also
went to a restaurant, A Mexican steak house… We had the special; it was a very
good, prime rib carne asada… didn’t leave anything on the plate. Talk about
being full, I felt like I waddled out of that place.
It was a busy
joint…
Rain seemed to be
in the forecast, but a couple of drops fell… I guess just a couple of drops
were what you call a storm that day. LOL
Movie and relax
time “Star Wars” a cider and lazy time… Yep! Much needed…
It was windy out,
and looked like it wanted to really storm, but it didn’t. It did a blow
by. So we made the choice of just
sleeping and it was well worth it…
June 16 Fathers Day!
We woke up early, hubby was already up doing things that was on his mind. I had some coffee, (secret coffee dance). Took a walk around the property, eyed the scenery…
Breakfast time…
Menu:
·
Eggs
·
Bacon
·
Biscuits
Cleaning commenced and we tried
out our new little vacuum… So all said
and done…It is time we head out, but no hurry mind you…
But I do miss my kids (pig,
pnut,butter)….
